CO-OPERATION OF NUCLEAR SAFEGUARDS WITH RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Cooperative projects in the Nuclear Security area with CIS countries

Within the framework of TACIS (Technical Assistance to the Commonwealth of Independent States), the Unit is running five projects in co-operation with laboratories in the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan. The projects are:

• two methodological and training centres in Obninsk (RMTC) and Snezhinsk (UrSIMTC);
• the development of a production strategy of instrumentation for nuclear material measurements within the Russian Federation;
• the improvement of the Nuclear Material Accountancy and Control System at the ULBA facility in Kazakhstan;
• the implementation of computerised systems for Nuclear Material Accountancy and Control at nuclear power plants in Kursk and Kalinin;
• the establishment of a test centre for safeguards equipment in Moscow.
